So Much for Texas Never Getting Cold

When we first moved to Houston last summer we had a number of people tell us that it never gets really cold. The weather was supposed to be cool and breezy but not terribly cold. Man were they wrong this year. We have had a few days where it was ridiculously cold. In fact, the temperature was so unexpected that we were not able to find a winter coat for Noah or Gabbie (she's still wearing one that is too little). We looked around all the stores but the heaviest coat we could find was a thin fleece jacket. So, whenever we needed to go outside, the kids were dressed up like this....

(We don't normally go outside at night but this time we walked to the nearby high school to watch my little sister's boyfriend play baseball.)

Is it still cold? I can send you a coat for her! Poor girl!

It's starting to warm up so we'll probably be okay. Thanks for the offer though. I really appreciate it. We will be scouring the racks at the local thrift stores and other places to see if we can find any coats for next year.

We probably have a spare. I'll take a look in the attic and let you know. What size would she need for next year? (we have a friend that hands down to Grace... so we have a bunch)

and Noah too...

You know I have no idea. I would guess though that she would be around a 4t or 5. Noah will probably be 24 months or around there.

I have one that will fit each of them. Becca borrowed them for her kids this year and will bring them back when they come conference weekend. I'll need the boy one back eventually, but you can keep the one for Gabs.

I love the pictures, especially seeing how little that jacket is on Gabbie! Sorry you guys have been hit with some cold days!
