Mom Questions

So to all of you moms out there, what advice could you give for when your child gets constipated? With starting the new cereal, Gabbie has had a really hard time pooping. The doctor told us to give her some pear juice mixed with water. Any things that have worked for you would be really appreciated.

This is Jessie (Ben's wife). Generally what I did when my kids were having trouble is just back off the solids and offer extra breastmilk or formula instead. Like only do cereal every other day. They don't really need anything from solid food (nutritionally) until 8 months or so and sometimes their tummies get a little overwhelmed. I also rarely gave my kids plain cereal and usually used only half a serving mixed with applesauce or mashed banana. But you might have to wait until you've done the plain fruits first.

My doctor always tells me "P is for Poop." So pears and prunes when she's that little. If it gets really bad... I've used little baby suppositories on all three of my children just to help them out a little bit. Dad can get them from the Health Center for dirt cheap... they're really nice to have on hand anyway. Mom has lots of experience with those because of Lacey if you need any help! :)
